Attila, the historical epic mini series, is a riveting telling of the story of Attila the Hun. There is plenty of action and gore in this made for network television movie. This romanced version of Attila was excellently cast especially the role of Attila played by Gerard Butler. His intense portrayal of the arrogant and powerful Attila delivers a magnificent performance. Although history tells us that Attila was an evil man, one of the most evil through history, this film strays slightly from the actual historical facts but still shows Attila as a great leader. Aside from the historical accurateness which does not affect the entertainment quality of this film, it is an enjoyable film with an interesting plot, well written, and directed delivering top notch cinematography equal to productions on the big screen. The director, Dick Lowry, said in a making of interview in 2000 “If there was ever a star-making role and a guy with the potential to become a star, Gerard Butler and Attila are it.” Well he got the part about Gerard Butler right didn’t he????
This is my favorite Gerard Butler movie. It’s the one that made me a fan. I’m not really a fan now, but I still love this movie. It should be seen.
I loved Attila, it really was a wonderful tv mini series. Very striking to look at and well acted, no wonder it came second in the all time ratings. Beautiful and exciting to watch.
Once again Gerard was absolutely striking in the role,
so handsome and powerful, yet warm and tender a perfect leading man combination, no wonder he first came to the attention of so many fans after this.
Again a great favourite of mine in every way.
