Phantom of the Opera

If you love music mixed with great drama then Phantom of the Opera is a must see. The performances given were superb including that of Gerard Butler as the Phantom.  He brought intensity, suffering, and pain to the role not only through his acting but with his excellent delivery of song.  The costumes and sets were amazing.  Phantom of the Opera is complete with razzle dazzle, outstanding acting, captivating drama, and fantastic music all combined to make it an enthralling entertainment experience!

  1. For me, The Phantom Of The Opera is the most beautifully romantic fantasy film ever made. I was completely overwhelmed from beginning to end. It is old Hollywood style spectacle at it’s finest and we will never see anything quite like it ever again. Gerard Butler’s performance as The Phantom, was simply unforgettable, so mesmerizingly handsome, commanding and heartbreaking, he made me care for the phantom more than i ever thought possible.
His eyes showed such genuine sadness, hurt and emotion and his real tears left us in no doubt he gave his all to the role. I had tears in my eyes almost from the beginning of the film at the sheer beauty of the scenes, to the most striking music and lovely songs, the costumes and actors were perfect, so much care, love and attention went into the making of the film and i can truly say i was stunned throughout and i found myself wanting to see this movie again and again and again and still do. In fact i created a website in the film and Gerard Butler’s honour called Le Club Lair and i can honestly say there are thousands of people around the world who feel the same. They have become admirers of Gerard Butler the actor and the man, after seeing him for the first time in this film and will never forget his emotional portrayal. He nearly killed himself taking on the role, plumbing the depths of his soul and on top of that having to have singing lessons and all the time knowing he will be judged harshly, but he took on the challenge because that is the kind of actor and man he is, something which makes him so special and Gerard gave us a phantom like no other.

This will always be my favourite film of Gerard’s.

The Music Of The Night Will Never Be Over thanks
    to Gerard Butler.

  2. I first became aware of the phantom of the opera many years back when i saw the theatere production of it, at the Bristol Hippodrome. Back then i was blown away watching these tallented actors, and hoped one day they would make a film version. My wishes came true, but though i knew many of the actors in the film the man who played the phantom really caught my eye, as i had not seen him before, and apart from putting his heart and soul into the role, i thought, what a hunk.
Ok he was playing a deformed murder, what is sexy about that, but Gerrard Butler took that role and made me think how we tret people who maybe different to us.
The phantom maybe a story, but it showed me we need to give people a chance, even if they are different to us, all Erik wanted was love, and no one showed him that, except Christine, but then even she let him down.
I can sort of relate to the phantom,(though i must state i am not a murder), i have not always fitted in and i am no supper model, and people are cruel, and i know what it is like to be lonely.
It will always be one of my favourite films, and Gerrard butler is one of my favourite actors, and i believe he did this film justice as the phantom.

  3. I liked this movie. Really, I did. I thought it was beautiful. I liked the story from the time I was a young teenager. As far as Gerard Butler, he was good, very good. I was a fan of his long before he made this movie, and I am no longer a fan. However, having said that, if this website is anything to go by, I’m the only one here who has seen all his movies (except his latest). Hmmm?

  4. Of all the films that Gerard Butler has made, “Phantom of the Opera” stands alone as being a masterpiece of beauty & depth that continues to haunt you.

It has a feel that is almost organic in that it continues to unfold itself with so many layers of continued fascination. Joel Schumacher was a genius to have chosen Gerard Butler, he trusted his intuition & it clearly shows with the performance that Gerard gave. His role as the Phantom goes beyond pretense, or acting, it was a realization.

It’s a unique experience that goes beyond itself. It’s never enough seeing it ‘just once’, but begs repitition.
I’m very happy to say that people are still enjoying this film. When it left the theatre circuit finally in 2005 even the DVD couldn’t replace the experience of seeing it in on the big screen. So I had the unique priviledge of being the first to bring it back into a theatre in November 2005 so that it could be enjoyed by everyone who wished to capture ‘their first time.”

Hopefully it has earned its overdue accolades when it proves its worth by convincing people to travel from as far as Canada & the eastern US into Los Angeles every year. This November will be my 5th Screening.

Definitely the power of Joel Schumacher’s/ Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Phantom of the Opera” hasn’t diminished, but actually increased as people continue to discover it via the DVD & countless admirers continue to relive the experience, because “Phantom of the Opera” is more than just a film, it is an Experience…
