Spectacular battle scenes, stunning artistry, and mind blowing cinematography all describe Zack Snyder’s 300 action packed, blood soaked drama based on Frank miller’s graphic novel 300. Computer graphics, a lot of slow motion, and an excellent portrayal of King Leonidas delivered by Gerard Butler make 300 an entertaining movie well worth watching.

If you love music mixed with great drama then Phantom of the Opera is a must see. The performances given were superb including that of Gerard Butler as the Phantom. He brought intensity, suffering, and pain to the role not only through his acting but with his excellent delivery of song. The costumes and sets were amazing. Phantom of the Opera is complete with razzle dazzle, outstanding acting, captivating drama, and fantastic music all combined to make it an enthralling entertainment experience!
Reign of Fire
In Adventure, Drama on July 6, 2008 at 6:29 pm
Reign of Fire takes us on a fantasy ride to the future in the science fiction drama about terrorizing dragons. Christian Bale, Mathew Mcconaughey, and Gerard butler each have convincing heroic roles. I can’t say that this is a film I enjoyed, but I will say that Rob Bowan certainly didn’t create a masterpiece by any means but the cinematography is pretty darned amazing. The one scene that stood out for me was when Bale and Butler were acting out a scene from Star Wars, that was pretty cute.
The Jury
In Drama on July 6, 2008 at 6:24 pm
I found the Jury to be exceptional entertainment full of suspense and drama. I think that Gerard Butler’s role of the recovering alcoholic was one of his best. His character as Johnnie Donne was incredibly intense. This mini series was well cast and directed. It excellently gave life to the drama in each jurors life out side of the court room which directly affected their place there. I enjoyed this mini seriers very much and I highly recommend it especially for those who really enjoy court room drama.
The Cherry Orchard
In Drama on July 6, 2008 at 3:30 am
The Cherry Orchard is the production of Anton Chekhov’s play by Mihalis Kakogiannis. It is the story of a wealthy family in 1900 Russia, a time of social and political revolution, who own a country estate with a beautiful cherry orchard. Its a story about having wealth and priviledges and then losing it all. Other than the beautiful cinematography and amazing costumes along with Gerard Butler’s character of the family servant Yasha, I found the movie to a bit boring.
DEAR FRANKIE
In Drama on July 5, 2008 at 9:35 pm
Dear Frankie is a heart warming film that draws out your emotions. This very moving story is brilliantly directed and refreshingly lacks that Hollywood “glitz”. Dear Frankie touches the soul and fills the heart with compasssion with well placed humor woven in and out. This is a little masterpiece that promises to tie your heart strings in knots and bring tears to your eyes and yet brings a peaceful sense of happy. This is a very entertaining film, well written and well cast. A must see for everyone!!!!
Beowulf & Grendel
In Action, Adventure, Drama on July 5, 2008 at 6:33 pm
Beowulf and Grendel is the epic feature based on the Anglo Saxon poem “Beowulf” directed by Sturla Gunnarsson filmed against the breathtakingly beautiful backdrop of Iceland. This version of Beowulf written by Andrew Berzins added humor and the vulnerable human quality given to Grendel gave it a new twist. Gerard Butler (Bewoulf) and Stellan Skarsgard (King Hothgar) gave excellent performances but it was Ingvar Sigurdsson’s portrayal of Grendel that took front stage. He excellently conveyed all feelings and emotions through gestures, expressions, and actions. Cast and crew put their heart and souls into this thought provoking version of the anient poem about people in a primitive time in this compelling drama free of CGI. It is well worth seeing.

Dracula 2000
In Drama on July 5, 2008 at 6:29 pm
Wes Craven’s Dracula 2000 is a modern version of many told vampire stories. A sealed silver coffin is thought to contain treasures, thieves find out to their death, none other than Dracula inside. This Dracula played by Gerard Butler doesn’t look like any other vampire from the older movies. If vampire movies are your forte then you will probably enjoy this one.
Timeline
In Action, Drama on July 5, 2008 at 6:28 pmThe motion picture business has always been fascinated with the idea of time travel. In Time Line, Richard Donner takes us back to Medieval times in this action filled science fiction adventure. An archaeological team finds themselves in the past right in the middle of a war between the French and English. I found the costumes and buildings to be authentic and the well filmed siege on the castle was exceptional with catapults pelting Castlegard with fire. The movie has been hammered for its lack of consistancy with the book, but if you can get past that and watch the movie for the sole purpose of being entertained, then give this one a try.
The Game of Their Lives
In Drama on July 5, 2008 at 6:25 pm
This is a good solid film for sports and soccer fans as well as those just looking ofr a good film. Wes Bently and Gerard Butler brought beleivable, outstanding performances as Walter Bahr and Frank Borghi and the supporting cast delivers superb performances as well. Not only does the Game of Their Lives tell a story of history in sports but it gives insite into who these men were off the field. This is a good film that tells a good story well worth watching.
One More Kiss

This is a sad emotionaly charged film that deals with life, love, and death. A good story line with excellent perfromances. Films like this touch all of us at some point. I can’t say that “enjoyable” is the right word for a movie that makes you feel sad, but it is a decent movie and one that is worth watching.
Shattered
In Drama on July 5, 2008 at 6:23 pm
Shattered, also titled Butterfly on a Wheel, is complete with mind games and twists. It has lots of suspenseful drama to keep you on the edge of your seat. It did not make it to the theaters but went straight to TNT. This is a cat and mouse game that is hard to guess where they will lead next. This is a well cast, strong acted drama that you might want to watch more than once just in case you missed something in all the twisting.
